Viasat1’s Launch Of Live Telecast For The 2016/17 EPL

Football fans in Ghana should expect to enjoy LIVE coverage of the English Premier League as Viasat1 has officially launched its coverage of the 2016/17 EPL season.

The launch on Wednesday night, brought together sports personalities such as former Black Stars player Augustine Ahinful, Coach De-Graft Johnson, and sports media personalities such as Joseph Hanson of Sports Xtra, Nutifafa Attah of Football 360, Henry Asante Twum, Umar Farouk, Daniel Oduro, Nathaniel Attoh, Fiifi Anaman and other distinguished guests.

In a recorded video message, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin, congratulated Viasat1 for securing the exclusive rights to air the EPL. “I think it’s going to be an incredibly exciting season, possibly a very unpredictable one.” According to him, a lot of money has been invested in the 2016/17 season of the Premier League, because there is a new television deal which is worth five billion pounds for the next few years. Being a West Ham fan, Mr. Benjamin also lauded Ghanaian international, Andre Ayew for sealing his move to Westham.

Acting CEO of Viasat1, Richmond Sey, expressed excitement at the channel’s acquisition of rights to telecast the EPL in Ghana, while anticipating a very competitive season of the league. Mr. Sey also touched on the Ghanaian interests in the league, citing Andre Ayew’s move to West Ham.

Starting this Saturday, 13 August 2016, Viasat1 will telecast one live EPL match every Saturday afternoon in partnership withKwesé Free Sports. The channel’s first live telecast between Everton and Tottenham will be preceded by a studio discussion, and highlights of all the weekend’s Premier League matches will be aired on the Viasat1 as well. Fans of the EPL may troop to the Champs Sports Bar, which hosted the launch, to watch the Viasat1 featured match every Saturday.

Meanwhile, Multimedia’s Nathaniel Attoh has tipped Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United to win the English Premier League Season; while former Black Stars player, Augustine Ahinful and Coach De-Graft Johnson believe Chelsea can win the league with Antonio Conte. Comedian DKB however tipped Jose Mourinho to win the league in his first season as manager of Manchester United.

Coach De-Graft Johnson won a Chelsea jersey for emerging winner of the keepy ups challenge, beating Augustine Ahinful, DKB, Ruddy Kwakye, and Nathaniel Attoh.
